The most common retirement planning questions asked of advisors
Lots of people have anxiety about their finances.
Teens take magazines quizzes to make themselves feel like their concerns about friendships, acne, hormones, and appearances are normal. Adults look around the internet, or talk to family and friends, to reassure themselves that the financial questions they have are normal.
Indeed, rest assured that your financial concerns are normal. A good financial professional won’t consider them embarrassing, just like your OB/GYN should be comfortable with your questions about birth control or STIs, or your Urologist will talk to you about prostate cancer monitoring.
The most common retirement planning questions asked of advisors are probably ones you have yourself. Those questions are:
- Will we be able to retire in our mid-60’s?
- What can we afford to spend; especially in those early years of retirement, when travel is very appealing?
- How do we fund that retirement income?
- How do we reduce our taxes in retirement?
- How do we protect ourselves against unplanned events?
But what won’t be in common is the answers. The answers will be personal, although the tune may be similar to those of family, friends, coworkers.
Forewarned is forearmed!
